The Family Church Christchurch: Overseas

In February 2010, The Family Church supported a team who visited Burkina Faso, a small country in North West Africa. The team worked with a local charity, 'ACTS', helping them to provide for the health and needs of the local population.

Before they left, the team produced a factfile, which gave details of the project background, the needs of the local population, and how the team planned to assist ACTS in their work in one of the poorest countries in the world.

The team have now returned to the UK, following a very successful trip. They will be using these pages to give details of what they got up to - and the effect the visit has had on them.

The team were a group of passionate local people from Christchurch and Bournemouth who aimed to raise funds to go on a short term mission to Burkina Faso.

They worked with ACTS , a local Burkinabe Charity. The team were able to give a gift of money to be used for buildings and supporting ACTS projects.
ACTS works to serve and empower women and children, the poorest people in the country, and have initiated the following projects:

Housing and Feeding AIDS orphans

Education and Schooling

Employment Training

Literacy Schemes for women in rural areas

Medical & Dental Centres

We worked in each of these projects to support some amazing people in what many would see as a hopeless situation.

Although the team have returned to the UK, the needs of the people of Burkina are still there. Please continue to help us to support ACTS in their work.
