ACTS Ministry - Burkina

Joanna Ilboudo began "Christian Action Together for Solidarity Ministries" (ACTS) in a small village near the capital city of Ouagadougou. Initially the work invited 25 children and 12 widows to partake in the ministry program. The number of individuals asking to be part of the ministry has grown in the last year. Housing is desperately needed for them.

ACTS mission is to bring the love of Christ and hope to those who live under the stigma of being AIDS widows and orphans. They minister to these poorest of poor through relief, education, feeding programs, training, literacy, health and social care programs, helping to restore their dignity and relieve human suffering.

The United Nations Human Development Index (HDI) ranks Burkina Faso as one of the poorest countries in the world —173 out of 179 countries. ACTS works together with widows and orphans to fight the fierce enemies of poverty, sickness and ignorance.

The Family Church are supporting a team who will visit Burkina during February 2010. The team will be working with ACTS as they provide help and care to the many needy women and children in the area. Details of the team and their visit can be found here.
