The Family Church Christchurch has a number of links with folk working in churches in Portugal.

Iris Lowe who used to be a member of our Church is in Sintra, and works with a team of Brazilian missionaries among Portuguese people and Brazilian and Angolan immigrants in the greater Lisbon area. Iris is involved in training children’s leaders, overseeing children’s work and training cell leaders in the Church. She also helps organise events like holiday clubs and children’s weekends. The Church Iris works for is growing rapidly; it has about 100 cell groups catering for over 700 members.

Mike & Jessica Shore, who are related to our Elder John Bament, work in Penafiel, a beautiful county town in the north of Portugal. They are leaders of a growing and remarkable church where there is a good cross-section of families, young people and older people. They assisted by their family; Katie and Andrew [both physiotherapists] and Peter training to be a teacher plus a good team of Portuguese leaders.
David and Linda Chester attended our Church while they were at Moorlands Bible College. They are in Lagos in the south of Portugal. David is pastor of The International Community Church there, which was started by the Portimão Portuguese Baptist church. The present Church building was opened in 2001, and since 2003 the Church has grown and many other activities have begun, including Mums & Tots, Aerobics, Friendship Afternoons etc.
