Sue Chapman was a teacher in London when she felt that God wanted her to go to Africa. In 1991 she moved to Durban in South Africa where she helped her church work in the Cato Crest Squatter camp. Four years’ later she moved to the copper town of Nampundwe in Zambia, helping run and plant churches there. In 1997, the Head Man of Mukubela invited Sue to start a church in the village and gave her some land to build and grow maize on. This was the start of Dayspring Christian Ministries.

As well as working with four churches, Dayspring now has two schools, and is heavily involved in community projects in local villages including; sinking wells and boreholes, cultivating land to grow vegetables and cotton on,building a home and providing care for the elderly and vulnerable, and a seed loan project.

In June 2004 a team from the Family Church Christchurch went out to Zambia to help build an adventure playground. Two midwives on the team were also able to give health advice and teaching. In addition, last year (2004) through people’s generosity, Dayspring Christian Ministries were able to:

Buy a new truck.
Sink a new borehole.
Build a new Infants School at Mukubala.
Build a two classroom block at Shampule.
Fully sponsor 20 children through School.
Sponsor someone through their last year’s teacher training, and two people at Bible College.
Buy School books and equipment.
Distribute baby clothes and blankets.
